Ok, Flash-heads, news is beginning to trickle out about season 2 of the Flash. For all those enamored with this supercool time and space bender, news from Tvline is spilling out juicy details for all us geeks.
#WestAllen is in jeopardy. There’s trouble afoot for the two young would-be lovers. Iris, you better watch out there is going to be competition for your fated love Barry Allen. Newswire is reporting that a new love interest is slotted for Barry Allen. Awkward with the ladies, Barry will finally score with the mysterious as yet uncast “Wendy.” Wendy is described as “spunky, fun and funny” by TV Line. She’s also supposed to be a science whiz, so she should be a part of Team Flash. It’s unclear if Wendy is one of the “Wendy’s” from the DC universe. She may be a brand new character.
Wendy, Wendy, Wendy! How dare you come between Barry and Iris. Actually, it is a good thing. Turnabout is fair. Barry has pined away for Iris perhaps his whole life, so it will be nice to see Iris’ reaction. She was quietly perturbed when Barry was sniffing around Linda Park. Dare say Iris was quite the territorial “friend” when the thought of Barry with another women presented itself. It’s split pretty evenly among the fan base with who likes the WestAllen ship and those who can’t stand it. It should be interesting to see the triangle in reverse.
New Superhero on the rise.
Barry has been the lone speedster out to save Central City. That will change in Season 2, as Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg told THR that “a few more speedsters” will be introduced. Earlier in the year, his co-executive producer Greg Berlanti mentioned that Wally West and Bart Allen could show up as early as next season
Wally West dutifully served as Barry’s sidekick Kid Flash until he eventually became the new Flash. Bart is Barry’s grandson from the future who travels back to the present to fight crime as Impulse. Depending on what happens, we may only see one of them in Season 2. Given the ominous appearance of Jay Garrick’s helmet, it is most likely that we will meet the earlier iteration the Flash, most likely from an alternate universe.
Multiple Timelines & Parallel Universe
Change the past and a new timeline is created. We’ve been privy to two changes of timelines – Eobard Thawne’s original timeline and the episode where Eobard killed Cisco during Weather Wizard’s rampage. We’re already sure of the idea of seeing parallel universes addressed in the upcoming season. Grant Gustin, the Flash himself, mentioned that parallel worlds will be touched upon showcasing the sometimes confusing multiverse. This has been signaled by a short glimpse into what many DC devotees are surmising as an appearance of perhaps Johnny Quick. Quick aka Crime Syndicate is an alternate version of the Flash just with criminal tendencies hence why we might have seen this odd glance of Barry looking thugged out in a jail cell.
Killer Frost
There was also a hint of one of Barry’s allies going to the dark side during the Season 1 finale. Since the inception of the show, the choice of the name Caitlin Snow has sent many a nerd adrift with anticipation of her eventual turn to the darkside. We all caught the quick glimpse of of Caitlin Snow as Killer Frost foreshadowing her eventual turn. It’s hard to picture sweet Caitlin turning evil, but that’s what makes this such an exciting prospect. Oh by the way Firestorm and Killer Frost are bitter enemies. So much for wedded bliss.
